BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- A steady stream of visitors to the Irish Lacrosse Foundation exhibitor booth,
Directors and general membership meetings, and a fund-raising reception for members and friends of
Irish lacrosse added up to a very full weekend for the Foundation at the annual U.S. Lacrosse convention,
Jan. 15 - 16.

SPREADING THE WORD about lacrosse in Ireland -- ILF President Richie Moran, l., and
Director Larry Carroll in front of the Foundation booth at the US Lacrosse convention just
before the Exhibition Hall opened on Friday. Before the Hall closed on Saturday night, a
constant stream of visitors asked about lacrosse in Ireland and opportunities for games
there, and supported the ILF fund-raising mission with membership and apparel purchases.
At the Board meeting on Saturday morning, Foundation Vice President and National Team member
Michael Kennedy, who traveled from Dublin for the weekend, reported on several developments for
lacrosse in Ireland over the past year, starting with the formation of the Irish Lacrosse League (ILL).
The League, which began play in October, currently has five men's club teams including UCD, Dublin,
NUIG (Galway), Trinity (Dublin) and Queens (Belfast), and women's teams at UCD and Dublin. An effort
is also underway to establish women's teams at NUIG, Trinity, and Queens, and, Kennedy, who moved
to Ireland from the U.S. 14 years ago, reported a very unique sign of the sport's growth when he said
that, for the first time, he is now seeing lacrosse players in Ireland that he doesn't know.
Prior to the meeting and at the request of the Foundation Board, Meno Consulting conducted an
assessment to measure progress and satisfaction regarding advancement of the Foundation mission,
networking and marketing, fundraising and general impressions.
Board members completed and returned assessments, and Meno recorded them and tabulated averages
for each item and provided a written analysis. Meno Managing Partner Dan Leidl discussed the findings
at the Board meeting.
Reviewing the impressions provided by the assessment concluded that the Irish Lacrosse Foundation is
poised to continue its current efforts while working to begin creative new ones that focus on fundraising
and the continued development of lacrosse in Ireland.
At the general membership meeting, John Cavanaugh and Dick Pepper were re-elected to new two
year terms as Irish Lacrosse Foundation Senior Vice President and Secretary.
The weekend's events concluded on Saturday night when Foundation members and friends filled up
the top floor of Baltimore's Water Street Tavern for a fund-raising reception. With the Baltimore Ravens
NFL playoff game in the background, everyone enjoyed conversations about lacrosse and mutual
friends in the game, and the men's team that will represent Ireland in the Lacrosse World Championships
in England in July. The Irish squad Team Leader, Richie Moran, also conducted a drawing for several
Ireland Lacrosse prizes, giving the winners an additional highlight to an already enjoyable evening.
HAPPY GUY -- Wayne Cloth of Wellington, FL, l., was delighted to
to win this colorful Irish lacrosse stick at the Foundation's reception
on Saturday night.
